**ABOUT US** Welcome to
Shiloh Staffs Hello, we’re Tara and Jim McFann. We have been involved with Am Staffs since 1995, when we purchased our first show dog from Kim & Charlie Nelson of Bear Mountain Terriers. CH Bear Mountain Shady Lady - “Shiloh”, was responsible for permanently committing us to this amazing breed. Since then, we have had the privilege of having several more outstanding dogs, thanks to our wonderful friends and mentors, Kim & Charlie Nelson. We want to take a moment here to encourage anyone who is seriously considering becoming involved with this breed to find a mentor from the many dedicated Am Staff breeders out there. They are an invaluable resource with advice and knowledge that comes from many years spent with this fantastic but sometimes challenging breed. We have met many caring and committed people who have shared their knowledge and lent a hand to us in our numerous struggles as “newbies”. Our dogs are based on the Ruffian bloodline, one of the top-winning bloodlines in the history of the breed; and as we mentioned, our foundation stock comes from Bear Mountain Terriers. We are just beginning to try to establish our own “line”. We breed our dogs to conform as closely as possible to the AKC breed standard, both in conformation, and most importantly, temperament. We do not compromise at all on temperament. The most beautiful dog is absolutely worthless without a good temperament. Am Staffs should be happy, outgoing, confident dogs – “His courage is proverbial”. We are members of The Staffordshire Terrier Club of America and the American Staffordshire Terrier Club of Greater Los Angeles. We have a strong interest in obedience as well as conformation, and we also have a desire to “better” the breed – not only with what we produce, but also with regards to its public image. The American Staffordshire Terrier is truly an incredible breed that also takes a special “breed” of owner. We are always available and more than happy to answer any questions, or help anyone interested in this breed as much as we can.
